_Programs & Activities

Picture
_Camp Jack Hazard offers many of the traditional camp experiences including campfires, skits, songs, games, theme days and camp dances.

In addition, CJH offers unique Challenge Course, Arts & Crafts, Adventure, Backpacking, and Nature programs.

Challenge Course
CJH offers both high and low challenge course elements to accommodate campers of all ages and abilities. Our 30-foot high challenge course has a variety of elements to push the personal limits of older campers, with our low ropes elements encourage teamwork and communication among all campers.

Arts & Crafts
Children can let their creativity run wild when painting, sculpting, tye-dying, making masks, candles, jewelry and music-making.

Adventure
The adventure program offers rock climbing, bouldering and rappelling with challenges for both beginning and advanced climbers.

Swimming Pool
The pool at Camp Jack Hazard is always a popular camper retreat. With at least 2 fully certified life guards on duty, children have a fun and safe way to cool off from the summer sun.

Backpacking
During full week sessions, campers have the opportunity to experience a two-night backpacking adventure to a location in one of the two pristine wilderness areas near camp. Many campers say that these overnights are their favorite activity at camp!

Nature
Our nature program encourages campers to go on hikes, explore rivers, and climb mountain sides in order to gain a better understanding of the world around them.

“Camp Jack Hazard was great for me, I wouldn't change a thing about it.”

Sonora Pass Creek
_Resident Camp (age 9-16)

You don’t have to go far or spend a lot of time looking for adventure this summer. Each week-long Resident Camp session features a two-night backpacking adventure and tons of action-packed activities. We foster personal growth through challenging and exhilarating activities. Campers will learn respect for others, respect for nature and respect for themselves.

Rookies Camp (age 6-10)

Rookie Camp is a four-day, three-night mini-session designed for first time campers as an introduction to the camp and preparation for a full length Camp Jack Hazard session. Campers will try all of the activities available to Resident Campers, including: games, campfires, camp programs and an on-site overnight where they’ll have the opportunity to sleep under the stars without leaving CJH grounds. A low camper to staff ratio ensures that each camper receives the personal attention they deserve to create a fun and memorable first camp experience.

Leaders in Training (age 15-17)

Leaders in Training (LIT) will enjoy two weeks at camp preparing for the challenges of future leadership positions. During their first week, LIT’s will develop their communication, teamwork, counseling and wilderness survival skills. Participants help lead a cabin during the following week. Youth interested in the LIT Program must submit an application.

“Both my boys attended for their first time. They did not go together so I was worried but after each one of them came home and told me their experiences, I was very impressed. I will definitely send them again and have already invited family and friends to go next year. Everyone was so great and friendly that my kids came back talking about the staff as if they had known them for years. Thank you all so much.”
